How to Delete Web Applications

You may wish to delete a web application for a variety of reasons: you created a test application to try out HostedDatabase.com features, you created a temporary application for a specific project, you are consolidating two applications into one and need to delete one of the applications, etc. In any case the, the Delete an application tool in the Control Panel allows you to completely erase an application from your account. There are a few issues to consider, however, when you delete an application:

  • Once you delete an application, all your application data is purged from the system, so please be careful. This includes all data from the primary and secondary application tables as well as all look-up tables (look-up table data is not shared across applications).
  • If you delete an application, all application user associations to the application are also deleted. This is an automatic process so you do not have to remove the associations yourself.
  • All application data storage space is reclaimed by the system once you delete an application. You can verify this by using the Show application storage space tool before and after you delete an application.

Clicking on the Delete an application tool in the Manage Applications section of the Control Panel, you see a pull-down list containing the names of all applications defined for your account. Select the application to delete from the list, and click the Delete button. You'll be prompted to confirm the delete process, and if you click on the DELETE this application button, the application is purged from the system. You'll now see the pull-down list again so you can delete another application, or you can click on the Cancel button to return to the Control Panel
