The Upload data to an existing database tool in the Control Panel allows you to quickly update an existing database with new data without affecting any existing data content. This tool simply appends new data records to existing data records. It does not attempt to "update" existing records with newer versions.

Clicking on the Upload data to an existing database tool in the Manage Databases section of the Control Panel, you will be prompted for the target database. Choose the database from the pull-down list, and click the Continue button.

You'll see another page containing the structure of the selected database. You should make sure the data file you intend to upload matches the structure of the database identically in terms of number of fields, order of the fields, field names, field data types, and field widths. You must also have as the first record in the upload data file, a row that contains only the field names. Once you are ready to upload the new data, you must click the Continue button.

Next, you must use the file dialog to find and select the upload file on your local PC. The file format may be Comma Delimited, Tab Delimited, or XML. Click on the Continue button to begin the upload process. If there are any upload errors you will see them now. If you have a clean upload, the upload tool will display the number of successfully uploaded records.
